This course follows a set syllabus - Curtains with a variety of different headings, including hand-finished pinch/goblet and eyelet headings.

Additional costs may be incurred for the materials used during the course.

Learner & Entry Requirements: 

No experience or technical skills required; no special clothing.  Learners will need to bring basic sewing equipment, but not a sewing machine (these are supplied by KAE).  Learners will need to buy fabric for their own projects, but fabric for any samples they make is supplied.

If you have the following equipment, please bring it, but do not purchase it specifically for the course until after the first class.  Basic sewing equipment – pins, sewing cotton, needles, tape measure and scissors.  1 metre of curtain fabric, 1 metre of lining and 1 reel of matching cotton.  Learners should also bring an A4 folder, paper for the folder, pen/pencil.  KAE is unable to offer refunds for any equipment, materials or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective: 

To give learners a good grounding in the techniques required to make curtains and in selecting styles, colours and fabrics.  By the end of the course learners should be able to measure and calculate fabric quantities, and have learned the techniques required to finish curtains.

Assessment: 

Informal and continuous – by question and answer sessions; completion of your project/samples.

To be discussed during course.

Course Syllabus: 

You will make two lined curtain samples, one finished with commercial heading tape and the second with hand-finished pinch/goblet and eyelet heading.  .

Samples and a folder of notes and techniques should be completed.
