ITEC qualifications are internationally-recognised and are aimed at beginners wishing to train as professional Complementary Therapists, or existing Therapists wishing to extend their practice skills or formalise their existing knowledge through accreditation.  Both male and female learners are welcome in our classes and all learners are expected to actively participate in any practical massage sessions.

This course, along with Anatomy, Physiology &Pathology, provides 'industry-standard' professional level training.  Those needing the Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology to complete this qualification must also join a separate ITEC Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology course (check with co-ordinator/KAE prospectus).  Those already holding the ITEC Anatomy & Physiology Diploma should gain a professional level 3 Diploma in Massage Techniques on completion of this course.

This course, while suitable for complete beginners, will be working at Level 3 (which is equivalent to NVQ 3, Advanced GNVQ, BTEC National and AS/A Level).  Case studies undertaken outside of the class and extensive home study are required for all ITEC level 3 courses.

A small number of couches are available for use during class time, but you are encouraged to bring your own where possible. You are encouraged to take out an insurance policy with ITEC in order to practice and carry out case studies.

Learner & Entry Requirements:

Informal 1-2-1 and telephone interviews are offered to prospective learners to discuss the course. 5 GCSE passes at A-C or equivalent is preferred, however exemptions are made for adult learners with experience in the work place and/or who have good command of written and spoken English and are able to demonstrate literacy skills at level 2, through completion of a national literacy test and interview.  Learners must be self starters, able to plan use of their time and attend regularly.   You must be in good health and mobile enough to perform strenuous physical activity (which massage can be).

General & First Session:

If you have pens, paper and a folder, please bring them but do not purchase them specifically for the course until after the first class.  KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

To avoid disruption to the class and as a courtesy to fellow learners, participants are requested to arrive in time for all sessions and inform the tutor in advance if possible, if they cannot attend a session. Homework will be set.

Course Aim & Objective:
