Learn about the production and upkeep of a lawn.  All the techniques and tools will be looked at in order to help you produce the perfect 'green carpet'.

Student & Entry Requirements:

None required.

General & First Session:

Pen. Paper. The learner will need no planting materials – although details of their own garden (size, soil type, aspect – etc) would be helpful.

Course Aim & Objective:

To introduce the learners to the possibilities open to those with access to a garden.

At the end of this course you will develop the following skills:

  • Gain a good overall knowledge of lawn care.
  • Grass types
  • Turfing & seeding
  • Types and uses of machinery

We will recognise and record your progress and achievement through attainment of the following course goals:

  • Understanding grass types
  • Understanding turfing & seeding
  • Understanding the uses of different types of machinery
  • Understand and apply the appropriate visual risk assessments and the Health & Safety skills and knowledge required to carry out activities related to this course.
  • Your own negotiated aims and objectives.

Progression:

Progression on to longer introductory courses, C & G complete gardener course and RHC General Gardening Certificate.
