Know your sewing machine

Ideal for those of you wishing to become more confident in the use of your sewing machine.  You must bring your own sewing machine.

Additional costs may be incurred for the materials used during the class.

Learner & Entry Requirement: 

Suitable for all learners.

General & First Session: 

Please bring a sewing machine with a foot pedal and instruction booklet, and fabric to use for practice and samples; paper and pen.  KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the class is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective: 

You will be able to use sewing machines confidently, use basic stitches for utility processes and understand the use of various attachments.

You will be able to thread the sewing machine accurately, adjust the tension where necessary, use the sewing feet to produce a range of utility stitches and some more advanced processes.

Assessment: 

Informal, by checking on samples produced.

Progression: 

Other sewing or soft furnishing courses.  Please ask at the centre office for details.

Learn how to:

• clean and oil your sewing machine
• obtain the correct tension
• understand the use of various attachments
• thread the sewing machine accurately
• a variety of utility stitches
• more advanced processes

You are encouraged to use the machine creatively.
