Overall course aims and objectives:

For learners to be able to:

• play music with both hands
• to understand what the basic elements are that make up music on the page
• to be able to recognize and play at least 5 notes with each hand
• to understand basic rhythms

On this course you will develop the following skills:

• reading music
• understand notation
• understand pitch
• know how the fingers are numbered for piano playing
• understand basic timings for playing – time signatures and rhythms

Assessment – (homework, on line tests, and/or exams):

Continual as learners work through pieces, plus a performance at the end of the course
