Description

This course is suitable for both beginners and those with some drawing skills. Work with various media. Develop your observational skills and knowledge of the basic techniques of rendering the human figure including hands and faces.

Additional costs are incurred for the model, trips to museums and galleries, and for materials used during the course.

Learner & Entry Requirements:

Some experience would be useful but is not essential There will be additional costs for trips to museums and galleries (e.g. the Victoria & Albert to look at sculptures) and life models.

General & First Session:

If you have a soft pencil and some paper please bring them but do not purchase any items specifically…

KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective:

To develop your knowledge of the human figure, adding expression and movement to your work; introduce different ways of working with the figure using various materials and techniques.

By the end of the course, you should be able to deal with the figure in greater detail, both from long studies as well as movement; develop observational skills and make judgements while drawing from life.

Assessment:

A range of assessment strategies to assess your progress against primary learning goals according to your needs, as your learning pattern emerges over the course. Assessment through tutor-directed tasks/assignments. Ongoing assessment, Question & Answer sessions, discussions.

On this course you will gain the following skills and knowledge:

  • Greater familiarity with materials
  • Techniques for drawing the human figure, e.g. foreshortening, measuring, movement and detail
  • Techniques for fitting the figure onto paper with long poses with a model and skeleton
  • Developing detail for drawing faces, structure and expression of features (eyes, mouth, nose)
  • Develop your ability to look at different angles and faces of different ages
  • Improve your drawing from observation and sculptures
