Description

An introduction to caring for the health and safety of children, anti-discriminatory practice, working as part of a team and play activities with children. This short course is a good taster if you are thinking of working with children.

Learner & Entry Requirements:

You need to be interviewed and assessed prior to enrolment. The required attendance at college is one morning a week and one session a week at a placement.

General & First Session:

If you have pen and paper please bring them but do not purchase them specifically for the course until after the first class. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any materials, equipment or books if the course is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective:

To introduce you to working with children.

Each of you should be able to understand the importance of Health and Safety, equal opportunities, working as part of a team and the value of play activities when working as a child care practitioner.

Assessment:

Observation, worksheets, diary of work placement.

Progression:

To Level 2 courses in child-care – NVQ or certificate in pre-school practice.
