Course Aim & Objective:
To provide you with proven techniques for improving self-awareness and inter-personal relationships in order to work successfully towards achieving your chosen goals.

By the end of the class you should be able to continue developing self-awareness by understanding the factors contributing to stress and negative thinking patterns, and replace these with positive thinking strategies. You should know how to prevent and combat stress through effective methods of relaxation and lifestyle balance. You should understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and reactions, and thus respond to others more appropriately and assertively. Consider some of the research and psychological theories underpinning the methods presented, and formulate incremental tasks leading towards chosen goals.

Assessment:
Continuous through discussions, Question & Answer sessions and feedback.

Course Syllabus:
Plan small achievable changes towards fulfilling the goals you seek, to think positively, communicate more effectively and learn the skills of emotional intelligence.

Enjoy stress-relieving and visualisation techniques to complement these.

  • Look at how you become your own life coach by finding ways of breaking down your identified goals into achievable tasks.
  • Spend some time learning how to identify when you automatically think in negative self-perpetuating ways and how to combat this through positive thinking methods.
  • Through practice you will notice when you minimise or discount what you do. I will help you learn how to alter unhelpful habits and build on your strengths and resources.
  • Learn about and practise assertiveness skills and how to differentiate between aggression and assertion.
  • Exercises to improve your communication skills through the techniques of listening, becoming aware of your posture, body language and manner.
  • Practise visualisation, relaxation and stress relieving techniques.
  • Many of the methods taught come from a variety of psychological approaches. You will be briefly introduced to several, such as Transactional Analysis, Cognitive and Solution Focused Therapy.
