Course Content

As an Agricultural Apprentice you will learn about farming at work and study the underpinning knowledge at Kingston Maurward College for one day a week for 18 weeks. Course Content

As an Agricultural Apprentice you will learn about farming at work and study the underpinning knowledge at Kingston Maurward College for one day a week for 18 weeks. Apprenticeships normally take 12 to 18 months to complete, during which time you will be paid according to the Agricultural Wages Order.
You will need to complete a Diploma at Level 2 in Mixed Farming plus Functional Skills. Additional qualifications that must also be gained include the Certificate of Competence in Tractor Driving which will be taken at your employer's convenience.The course gives a broad introduction to livestock and crop production.
If you are interested in gaining a qualification in Work-based Agriculture, but do not wish to complete an Apprenticeship, please contact our co−ordinator.

For Apprentices only, there is an option to complete a Certificate of Competence in Fork Lift Truck Operations (AG019) for a discounted cost: conditions apply.

College attendance is on day release.

Entry Requirements

Working on a farm. Successful completion of interview and induction.

What Next?

Advanced Apprenticeship or Level 3 Diploma in Work-based Agriculture or other part-time agricultural courses at KMC.Work as general farm worker, tractor driver, herdsperson.

Price

While you are on an Apprenticeship, your employer pays you a salary and supports you whilst you undertake your training.

The National Apprenticeship Service will pay the costs of your training depending on your age.
