This evening class will help you to gain the relevant skills and
knowledge to obtain the V.T.C.T. Level 3 Certificate in Sports
Massage Therapy. This qualification will provide you with the
knowledge, understanding and skills to works in an unsupervised
capacity as a sports massage practitioner, with non-pathological
tissue.
In this qualification you will develop your knowledge and
understanding of the theory underpinning the practice of sports
massage therapy, including functional anatomy and physiology,
nutrition, classification of sports injuries and the stages of

healing. In addition to the skills and techniques to plan, prepare
for and apply a range of sports massage methods to uninjured
clients.
This qualification is endorsed by the Sports Massage Association
(SMA) Once registered for this qualification you have the option to
join the SMA as a Level 1 student member free of charge.
Course fees include tuition, tutorial support, assessment and
registration. Additional fees maybe required for therapy uniform,
relevant products and equipment. Full details will be available
during the induction evening.
The length of the course is 31 weeks - 1 x3hr lesson per week.
What Subjects will I study?
Functional anatomy, physiology and nutrition for sports
therapies.
This unit will proivde you with an understanding of the anatomy,
physiology and nutrition specifically relevant to working as a
therapist or practitioner in sport and active leisure.
Applying sports massage methods to non-pathological tissue.
This unit will provide you with the knowledge, understanding and
skills to plan and apply sports massage methods to non-pathological
tissue and to evaluate performance to inform on future
practice.
