Through theory and practical skills learners will gain knowledge

of sports massage therapy including functional anatomy and
physiology, nutrition, classification of sports injuries and the

a range of sports massage methods to uninjured clients and enhance
your skills to evaluate massage strategies and methods to inform on
future practice.
There are 2 mandatory units:
- Functional anatomy, physiology and nutrition for sports therapies
- Applying sports massage methods to non-pathological tissue including assessment of client, planning of and evaluation of treatment.

- Practical observation
- 50 hours case studies which can be completed at College
- Assignments
- External question paper.
Progression
On successful completion of this qualification you will be equipped to work in an unsupervised capacity as a sports massage practitioner throughout the sport and active leisure, beauty and complementary industries. This qualification provides progression opportunities to other L3 qualifications i.e. L3 Diploma in the Prevention and Management of Sports Injuries and further L4 specialist qualifications.

Entry Requirements
You must have a sound knowledge of written and spoken English and be able to work towards a level 3/A level standard. A previous qualification in massage would be an advantage although not essential. An interview for this programme is compulsory.
