What is the Course About?We currently offer a selection of Literature courses for all
tastes.
These are based at the Isle of Man College and Ramsey Grammar
School.
Excellent opportunity to discover, rediscover and discuss,
informally.
The Poetry of Seamus Heaney - one day - A workshop exploring some
of Heaney's most important and well-known poems. No previous
knowledge necessary, all welcome.
Andalucia, Mi Amor - one day - A workshop exploring how the
stories, folk music and colourful architecture of Andalucia
influenced writers, composers and architects from many countries
over the centuries. No previous knowledge necessary, all
welcome.

The Cult of Love in the Age of Chivalry - one day - A workshop
exploring the origins of this style in poetry and music and various
genres associated with it. Covers the connections of the
Troubadours' style with the Crusades and its fascination with the
Cult of Courtly Love and the influence and the enduring appeal of
troubadours over centuries. No previous knowledge necessary, all
welcome.
The Poetry of W B Yeats - one day - A workshop exploring some of
Yeats' most important and well-known poems. No previous knowledge
necessary, all welcome.
Get into Tune - A Short History of the Blues - 6 weeks - Course
covering the origins of Blues guitar music in the Mississippi
Delta, the progression to Electric Blues and the influence of these
on British contemporary music. No previous knowledge required.
The Art of Creative Writing - 8 weeks - An ongoing study of what it
takes to be a successful author - aimed at both past students and
studetns newly interested in the subject. Practical/theoretical
course.
Writing for Pleasure or Profit - 8 weeks - Practical introduction
to writing creatively and commercially. How to develop ideas, avoid
pitfalls and be published.
Literature for Pleasure - is a 25 week course. An opportunity to
discover, rediscover and discuss, informally, an agreed group
pot-pourri of literary genres and geniuses - ancient and
modern!
