Course Duration12 months of full-time study at the International College of Professional Studies (ICPS).
Assessment Each unit requires two pieces of assessed work which carry equal weighting:
- an examination Internally set and marked by the ICPS, and samples of students’ work verified by ABP.
- an assignment marked internally by the ICPS and samples of students’ work verified by ABP.
Students will be given a grade each time a piece of work is assessed. To pass the unit requires a pass mark of 40% or above in both pieces of assessed work. For example, achieving a mark of 70% in one piece of work and 35% in the other will not qualify for a pass in the unit. When a student has passed both pieces of assessed work, he or she will be issued with a final grade, which will be based on the average of the two marks.
Students should apply for assessment on the Postgraduate Diploma Examination and Assignment Entry Form. On the form students should indicate which examinations they wish to sit and which assignments they intend to submit – there is no requirement to attend an examination and submit the corresponding assignment at the same sitting. If either piece of assessed work is passed it can be carried forward to future sittings.
Similarly, a re-sit of either piece of assessed work that was not passed is also permitted.Examinations will be conducted according to the ICPS Examination Regulations, which are available from the College.
Assignments Students should comply with the deadlines set by their College for the submission of assignments to ensure that they get marked on time, and submitted to ABP by the closing dates given. If the assignments are not received by the College until after the closing date, the results may be delayed until the following sitting. Students should retain a copy of their assignment as evidence of having completed and submitted their assignments.
Examinations are held in March, June, September and December each year. Candidates must be registered and paid-up Student Members of the Association of Business Practitioners at the time they undertake the examinations.
Examination Closing DatesCandidates entering for examinations must ensure that their completed Examination. Entry forms and fees reach ICPS at least six weeks before the date of the examinations. Examination Timetables indicate the Closing Date for receipt of entries for each sitting.
Examination ResultsThese are normally distributed eight weeks after each examination diet.
ExemptionsThe recognition of students’ previous achievements and experience is encouraged through the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). Students may have evidence generated from previous study, from their previous or current employment or whilst undertaking voluntary work relating to one or more of the units in the qualification.
