During the programme you will develop your generic teaching skills and your specialist subject skills. The programme is available full-time and part-time and leads to either a:
- PGCE, level 7 qualification (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) or

The PGCE qualifications are endorsed by the Institute for Learning (IfL) and are recognised as qualifications that meet requirements for Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS).
Features
The programme comprises four modules.
You will be required to accrue at least 100 hours of practical teaching of mathematics and numeracy.
Teaching practice placements will be provided and you will be allocated a subject specialist mentor, who will help you develop your specialist teaching skills and undertake teaching observations. If you are already working in the sector, you will need to gain the full support of your workplace, including their agreement to provide a mentor.
In addition to your teaching practice, you will attend a taught programme and it is likely that you will need to devote a further day a week to private study.
