Masters Level Module
The aim of this module is to look widely at the varying conceptions of the purposes and nature of history education that are held in different countries and the ways in which these are related to particular socio-political and cultural contexts. It will give participants an awareness of how international research into students' historical thinking has developed in recent decades, and equip them to analyse specific developments, responding critically and constructively to commonly held positions about the value and purpose of history education.
