Through the production of high quality multimedia resources, using Mediator 8 software, BTs will be engaging in the exploration of aspects of global, international and intercultural education through the medium of MFLs and with reference to key pedagogical principles in the field of foreign languages. In so doing, BTs will not only learn about key design principles governing multi-media material production in a foreign language and attendant evaluation criteria but also be sensitised to issues around motivation in foreign language teaching and aspects of transition across key stages, in particular KS2 to 3. Through its interdisciplinary focus, the module will facilitate and enable collaboration with BTs from other subjects and phases. The module will develop in BTs the professional skills required in preparing multimedia resources in the context of learning about global education, citizenship and other subjects. The acquisition of the requisite technical knowledge in BTs is a precursor for teaching pupils; the use of multimedia software will enable learners to generate knowledge and 'produce' artefacts of their own, articulating ideas, expressing views about notions of language and their own cultural identity. BTs will create innovative resources through 'learning through production' adopting principles and approaches from Media and MFL disciplines.
