Business Foundation Degree (Full-time)

The Foundation Degree is a qualification in its own right, which will enhance your skills and earning power in the workplace. You can earn and learn with flexible methods of study. On completion of a Foundation Degree, you can enter the workforce or top-up to a full honours degree.

Summary

This course has been designed to introduce you to key business concepts and relate them to the needs of the work environment. In the second year you will complete a work-related project for a local employer.

You can take a general Business Foundation Degree (UCAS code: N101 FdA/Bus) or you can take one of the following specialist pathways:

• Business with Accounting (UCAS code: N1N3 FdA/BusFin)
• Business with Human Resource Management (UCAS code: N1N6 FdA/BusHR)
• Business with Marketing (UCAS code: N1N5 FdA/BusMkt)
• Business with Information Systems (UCAS code: N1I2)

Entry Requirements

You will need to be at least 18 years of age on 1st September in the year you start the course.

You must have completed 2 years post-16 study and have gained:

• 120 UCAS points (including one GCE A Level or equivalent)
• 4 GCSEs including Maths and English Language at Grade C or equivalent
• Mature students without the required UCAS points may also be considered

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is continuous throughout the two year course. You will be assessed on different assignment tasks for each module using a variety of assessment methods.

• Progress to a Honours Degree course (one or two years) in a specific field like Finance or Marketing and HR

Additional Activities

As a University of Hertfordshire student you will also have full access to University facilities including the Learning Resource Centre, the recreational facilities and the Student Union.

During the second year of the Foundation Degree you will undertake a work based project which will be completed while working with a local employer.
