This City & Guilds qualification aims to provide basic training in construction skills and is a suitable starting point for individuals thinking of a career change or for those wanting to gain basic construction skills for more adventurous home improvement projects. We welcome and encourage both females and males onto the course. The course is split into three focused areas of work, each containing eight units that need to be completed to achieve the full qualification. The three areas of work you can choose from are: Brickwork, Carpentry and Painting and Decorating. Full qualified tutors will lead each of the focused trade areas, with each area having a large content of practical skills activities. This level 1 qualification is just the first step. For those wanting to gain further skills at a higher level the course provides the perfect stepping stone onto a range of level 2 & 3 construction qualifications such as NVQ's and Technical Certificates or you can expand your skills and undertake a level 1 in each trade area.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, it is open to all abilities, but you do need to be keen, enthusiastic and be prepared to "get stuck in". Safety footwear is required and we suggest an overall is worn during practical sessions.
