Barbering VRQ Diploma Level 2
Summary
This course will help you to develop your knowledge and build your skills in Barbering techniques from cutting, shampooing and conditioning, through to colouring.
Once you have achieved this qualification you can progress to our Award in Barbering at Level 3.
Entry Requirements
Have a minimum of 136 GCSE entry points including two GCSE's at Grade D or above, one of which must be English Language.
If progressing from Level 1 Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy you must have demonstrated good attendance/timekeeping, the ability to meet deadlines and reasonable skills development.
You will also need to have a good personal presentation and communication skills.

What will I be doing on the course?
This is a one year programme that will enable you to develop practical and knowledge in client consultation, cutting hair and facial hair, colouring, shampooing and conditioning the hair and scalp, styling men's hair and all aspects of health and safety.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is ongoing throughout the course. You will be guided and supported in practical theoretical sessions. Skills will be assessed as soon as you and your assessor consider it is appropriate.
What will I need?
- You will need to purchase personal stationery.
- Kit and Uniform are issused at the start of the course, upon payment of all course fees. Kits are non refundable once the course starts.
- For students progressing from within the department, previous kit items will be appropriate but additional items will need to be purchased.
- Payment for optional enrichment activities are detailed throughout the year.
- Costs are appropriate and revised yearly.
What can I do next?
- Progress onto Level 3 Award in Cutting Men's Hair and Facial Hair.
- Employment.
Additional Activities
Depending on your prior achievements, you may be able to re-sit GCSE English and/or Maths. Enrichment activities (trips/visits etc) will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. If these are optional, additional fees will be charged to you, complusory enrichment activities will be free of charge. Details will be provided once the course starts.
