What does the course include?
This qualification will develop a parent’s knowledge, understanding and skills needed for bringing up a baby, and for raising young children, for both mothers and fathers. It is fully fundable for 16-18 year olds.

The course learning outcomes are:
- To use self management skills to plan, choose and create suitable effective resources for a baby.
- To identify your rights as a parent and the rights of children. To know the referral path for reporting suspected abuse of a child.
- To follow government guidelines on healthy eating for a baby/young child. To prepare foods to wean a baby.
- To be able to communicate effectively with a baby/young child to support their language and communication development
Course modules/units are:
- Unit 9 – Using Planning skills to make a resource for a baby
- Unit 10 – The Rights and Responsibilities of Parenting
- Unit 11- Developing Communication and Literacy with Children
- Unit 13 – Healthy Eating for Children
The course will give you a greater understanding of Parenting, how to be a better parent, and advice and tips in all matters relating to parenting and bringing up children.
This course is available for concessions.
What do I need to get on this course?
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
How will I be assessed?
- Questioning to assess learners understanding of course requirements.
- Observation of learner�s contribution, feedback, confidence and evaluation.
- Group work, dynamics and contribution.
- Planning and IT skills.
- Presentation of learners finished resource to the class and identification of the benefits of resource to children�s development.
- Class discussion

You can progress and move onto Level 2 BTEC Childcare, as well as various other Health and Social Care courses available at Greenwich Community College.
