What does the course include?
If you are going to be 24 or older at the start of this course, you could be be entitled to an Advaned Learning Loan which will cover your tuition fees. Please click here for more information.
This course is for professionals working as a key worker, senior carer or team leader. Learners will have a choice of three pathways (below) and 9 mandatory units:
- Generic
- Dementia
- Adults with Learning Disabilities

What do I need to get on this course?
You will need to complete initial assessments in literacy, numeracy and free writing. You will also need to be full-time employed in a Health and Social Care setting.
You will need a letter from your employer to confirm this and that they will support you while you are completing the course.
How will I be assessed?
Direct observation is carried out and other forms of evidence are also used.
Where does it lead?
Progression will include level 5 qualifications for management or senior practitioner roles in health and social care or to specialist qualifications reflecting the context in which you work.
