What does the course include?
This course will equip you with the skills and knowledge required for entry to a career in the public and uniformed services, including the:
- Armed Services
- Police
- Fire
- Emergency and Security Services
You will investigate what those working in these services do as part of their job role, how they interact and work together, and you will be encouraged to consider your public service careers options.
You will undertake six units of study, including:
- Uniformed Public Services Employment
- Public Service Skills
- Uniformed Public Service
- Fitness and Citizenship
Some units include outdoor activities.

The Army is working with colleges to encourage recruits to prepare for a career by supporting them on courses such as BTEC Certificate and a bursary scheme has been set up so that those who undertake the course and enter the Army can receive financial bonuses to support their studies.

What do I need to get on this course?
A Merit or Distinction at Public Services level 1 or 5 GCSE’s at grade A-D including English & Maths.
Where does it lead?
You can progress onto our BTEC Certificate in Publice Services level 3 course of study or to employment in the public services.
