Career opportunities
Students who complete the course will have gained an in-depth
theoretical and practical knowledge in technical aspects of
music/audio and recording technology, enabling them to specify,
characterise, integrate and apply music technology in studios,
theatre, concerts, TV and radio, sound for multimedia applications
and games and research into new technologies.
The part-time route is suitable for existing technologists,
lecturers and teachers in academic institutions and work carried
out on the course may lead to outcomes that are valuable to a
current or potential employer. Practical experience will be gained
through use of our extensive facilities, which include a
state-of-the-art sound studio and MIDI suite, media suite and audio
labs within the Audio Studios complex.
Course content
The programme is designed to meet existing professional
standards, and to educate
you to the highest level in the creative use of audio exploring how
creative ideas and new technologies can be combined, enhanced and
re-defined, whilst securing your control and experience of
professional audio and visual equipment.

Entry requirements Entry for the MSc programme is through an honours degree of at least 2:2 classification or equivalent although in some cases applicants with substantial commercial or industrial experience can be accepted, subject to interview and references.
