You will learn how to work within commercial constraints. You will also develop transferable skills such as the ability to manage your own learning and personal and professional development; communicate effectively using a variety of communication methods; present and interpret numerical calculations appropriately; effective information retrieval skills (including the use of browsers, search engines, and online library catalogues); deploy IT facilities effectively and efficiently; to work independently and as part of a team with minimum guidance.

Typical course content

You will work on the design, installation and support of LANs (local-area networks), WANs (wide-area networks), internet and intranet systems. You will learn to provide day-to-day on site administrative support for software users in a variety of work environments, maintain network hardware and software, analyse problems, monitor networks, gather data to identify customer needs and then identify, interpret and evaluate system and network requirements.

Four-year degrees

Students have the opportunity to study these courses as a four-year degree including a foundation year. If you do not meet the entry requirements for the three-year bachelors degree you should consider this degree. By incorporating a foundation year, we can bring you up to speed for the demands of a full three-year degree.

If you successfully complete the foundation year, you will be guaranteed a place on the full degree and will join as a first-year student. As the foundation year is not a stand-alone qualification, but part of a programme of study for an honours degree, UK students are eligible to apply for a student loan. The government fee grant for Welsh-domiciled students will also apply.
