Career Opportunities

The MA Advanced ESOL will open up new avenues for careers such as in translating, interpreting, teaching, research, marketing, politics and journalism, particularly with international companies or organisations. The programme team will be able to advise students on their follow-up professional development, such as CELTA – an internationally recognised English language teaching qualification accredited by Cambridge - or interpreting/translation, journalism and marketing programmes.

The transferable analytical and communication skills the students will gain will make them strong candidates for managerial and administrative positions within industry.

Entry Requirements

A relevant degree (2:2 or above) in English language, BA ESOL, BA TESOL, English language and literature (combined), or similar subject areas. Other qualifications and experience will be considered on their merits and under exceptional circumstances.

Successful applicants must, however, provide proof of consistent proficiency in English, usually with a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent – with 6.5 in writing minimum. Applicants whose first language is English will not be admitted
