The course is for people who have been studying Spanish for a few years, and want to continue to increase their knowledge in a number of topic areas. Students will build on existing grammar knowledge, in particular building on use of the present, past tense (perfect and imperfect) and future, introducing the conditional and present progressive, taking a closer look at pronouns. Students will also continue to develop their conversational fluency, whilst broadening their vocabulary. The course is for people who have been studying Spanish for a few years, and want to continue to increase their knowledge in a number of topic areas. Students will build on existing grammar knowledge, in particular building on use of the present, past tense (perfect and imperfect) and future, introducing the conditional and present progressive, taking a closer look at pronouns. Students will also continue to develop their conversational fluency, whilst broadening their vocabulary. Possible topic areas to be covered include: Leisure activities and sports Media: films and music New technologies, e.g. internet Global issues. Some of the subjects covered will be similar to those in the GCSE syllabus, and will also introduce some of those needed for the AS level for those students who want to progress further. Students will also develop the vocabulary and confidence to deal with more complex situations, where things don't go quite according to plan. The course is divided into 3 terms over the academic year. Please note that each term is enrolled and payable separately. Students can join at the start of any term, but if they are starting in January or April, they should be aware that they are joining a continuing class. You will be able to get by in Spanish speaking countries with a sound base of vocabulary, and be able to maintain simple conversations at a steady flow.
Additional NotesWhat will happen on the first evening? After the usual admin presentation and paperwork, the tutor will give a brief test to the students, to make sure that they are all roughly at the right stage, and will ask them to introduce themselves.
Entry CriteriaA good basic knowledge of everyday vocabulary. Knowledge of past and future tenses. An enthusiasm to learn Spanish and participate in class activities.
Progression DetailsYear 4/5 or possibly AS level for a student who is prepared to put in a lot of effort.
