You will be assessed on your practical skills as well as your knowledge of carpentry both in college and at work., Carpentry is not just all about your skills with wood, as part of this course you will also be undertaking additional skills that employers feel are vital to the profession. These additional qualifications in communication and numeracy will be delivered on your day in college and form part of the training framework.
Additional NotesYou will need to wear suitable protective clothing and steel toe-capped boots or shoes.
Entry CriteriaTo get a place on the programme, you will need to be working in a carpentry role on a construction site. You will need to attend an interview and selection process.
Progression DetailsAfter completing the two-year course, you can progress on to the advanced training programme where you will be increasing your skills and knowledge to Level 3 standard. Successful completion of the advanced training programme could mean that you become a site foreman.
