New for October 2012: A brand new full-time level 2 pre-apprenticeship programme supported and funded by EDF Energy. EDF Energy is working with Gloucestershire College and two other partner colleges to deliver a programme of study that will help you develop the right skills to apply for an EDF Energy Engineering Apprenticeship in early 2013. EDF Energy is working with Gloucestershire College and two other partner colleges to deliver a programme of study that will help you develop the right skills to apply for an EDF Energy Engineering Apprenticeship in early 2013. The programme consists of: * A balanced programme of science, maths and practical engineering skills * A two-day outward bound activity that will support the development of team working and leadership skills. * A visit to HMS Sultan, where all EDF Energy Apprentices receive their first two years training * Visits to EDF Energy’s nuclear power plants * Guest speakers from EDF Energy * Coaching on CVs, application forms and assessment days by EDF Energy staff. Trainees will also receive a bursary of £30 per week to support them during their studies. The progamme has been designed by EDF and delivered by Gloucestershire College to assist motivated and talented young people work towards a career in engineering, as well as helping them become better placed to apply for EDF's apprenticeship programme in early 2013. To apply, complete a Gloucestershire College application form or apply on line. The closing date for applications for this pre-apprenticeship programme is noon on Wednesday 17th October 2012. There are limited places available and there will be an assessment board all day on Thursday 25th October. Entry criteria: We are looking for people who are disappointed with their GCSEs from school and have achieved English, maths and a science at grade D/E. Progression details: * Access to EDF Energy Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship Programme (at Testing Stage) * Apprenticeship programme with another employer.
Additional NotesApplications close on 17th October. A Selection and Testing board will be held on 25th October.
Entry CriteriaGCSEs at D, including in English, maths and science. Level 2 literacy and numeracy (will be determined on assessment and interview day)
