AAT Level 1

AAT Access is a short qualification to help you develop essential business and finance skills you can apply directly to the workplace, including: Essential accounting procedures: Assets and liabilities; recording payments made and monies received; bank paying-in slips. Accounting in a professional environment: Types of organisation; types of customers; ethics and professional behaviour; health and safety; personal skills required for work. Mathematics for accounting: Adding; subtracting; multiplication; division; percentages. Creating business documents: Types of business documents; communication styles; document accuracy. AAT Access will help you develop skills that open doors for you in all types of businesses - from small local firms to large multinational companies. Once you've achieved AAT Access you'll have the option to progress to the Level 2 Certificate for Accounting Technicians course. For further detail refer to the AAT website http://www.aat.org.uk/. Assessment is based on one computer based examination

AAT student fees for AAT Access o AAT admission fee - No charge o Student registration - £32 (registration lasts one year) o Learning materials - £20 Students can also register for both AAT Access and AAT Level 2 at the same time, in which case they will be charged for AAT Level 2 registration only. Fees for learning materials and the assessment will still apply. You don’t need formal qualifications or experience to study for AAT Access. You should enjoy working with figures and be literate and numerate.

On successful completion of the level 1 Access to AAT course you will be able to progress on to the Level 2 Certificate in Accounting course, which in turn leads to Leve 3 Diploma in Accounting and and then on to the AAT Level 4 Diploma in Accounting course. Once students have completed their AAT studies they may be eligible for exemptions from the foundation stage examinations of the UK Chartered accountancy bodies (CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW) or they may wish to study for a Foundation Degree in Business or for a Full Degree.
