In the two day workshop the alternative methods of forecasting are introduced and developed to cover seasonal analysis, causal forecasting and the common methods of time series projection including curve fitting, moving average and exponential smoothing. Differences in approach for short term forecasting, medium term forecasting and sales and operations planning are explored. Other topics include forecast accuracy measurement, new product and promotional forecasting, and the growing use of EPOS data. Some aspects of supply planning are covered, including the basics of stock policy and the calculation of safety stock. Course material is backed up with worked examples in Microsoft Excel.
