Rigger Training (Stage 1)

Being part of the Falck group of companies has provided Falck Safety Services with significant benefits in the expanding wind power business sector. In November 2011, we officially launched our industrial training unit in Teesside, which has state-of-the-art facilities to cater for offshore wind farm safety training. We are now leading from the front in providing dedicated safety training for the wind and renewable sectors.
The purpose of this training course is to provide delegates with a series of explanations and
demonstrations, which will identify what they are, expected to know and do when involved in
Rigging and Lifting Operations. This is followed by numerous practical exercises, which allows
delegates to be assessed by experienced instructors and assessors. An individual
assessment to determine learning outcomes and competency will be prepared for each
delegate.

Preparation of a lifting plan
Sling angles
Effects of angles & tensions
Delegates will work in teams to examine lifting machinery and accessories then plan and
undertake routine rigging tasks. Including cross-hauling methods.
Delegates will work in teams undertake various Complex rigging tasks.
Delegates will be required to individually plan given rigging tasks assessed on their knowledge
and skills learned.
The duration of this course is Three days. The course consists of approximately 30% theory
and 70% practical sessions.
On successful completion delegates will be issued with an OPITO Rigger Training Stage 1
certificate which is valid for two years
