The course is based on the research expertise of our academic staff, who will help equip you with a thorough knowledge of research, statistics, and evidence-based medicine.

2013/2014 UCAS Points A minimum of 260 pointsGCSEs
- 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Maths and English. Plus one of the following:
- Normally 260 UCAS points from a minimum of 2 A levels including Human Biology, Biology or Chemistry at grade C or above
- BTEC National Diploma with Science - BTEC with Distinction/Merit/Merit (280) points

Teaching and assessment
This is a practical degree and provides instruction in laboratory sciences and human clinical skills such as cardiorespiratory physiology and body morphometry.
Medical Science combines quality traditional teaching such as lectures, tutorials, seminars and laboratory sessions, with modern educational approaches and the course is based around a contemporary e-learning hub that empowers you using podcasts, educational video and animation, and online quizzes providing a flexible approach to learning.
You will be appointed a personal tutor for support, and will gain additional academic support from all other members of academic staff. This is a practical degree and provides instruction in laboratory sciences and human clinical skills such as:

Students have the opportunity to undertake an optional sandwich work placement, based in an environment of your choice.

Graduate opportunities exist in medical research, writing, education, commerce and sales. This is an appropriate entry qualification for graduates who wish to apply for further study in graduate entry medicine, pharmacy|, dentistry or NHS medical care practitioner training.
