This course is for experienced plumbers and heating engineers who wish to install and service solar thermal hot water systems, who require QCF accreditation and need minimal revision and training.
This course covers the installation, commissioning, handover, inspection and maintenance of solar thermal hot water systems to the new QCF framework qualification.
You are assessed in the classroom and in the workshop. The assessment consists of an online multiple-choice exam, paper-based exam and practical assessments.

for appropriate training in the solar thermal technology.
Successful completion of the training and assessment provides
training evidence for suitably qualified individuals to include
with their application for registration on a Microgeneration
Certification Scheme that allows self-certification, and
notification to building control departments of work completed.
You need a G3 certificate in domestic unvented hot water systems, energy efficiency, water regulations and NVQ Level 2 in plumbing and heating, or 3 years industry experience. The Level 3 Award in Understanding the Fundamental Principles of Environmental Technologies is also a prerequisite for this course.
This course leads to a Level 3 award within the Qualifications and Credit Framework. The training has been mapped to National Occupational Standards, which means you receive the most beneficial and industry-relevant training possible. Upon completion, you can then progress to a Level 3 award in other environmental technologies.
