Learn how to design and knit your own garments, or if you can knit already then come along and improve your skills in this relaxing, sociable 5-week course.
You can learn to knit from scratch or get some expert help on a project of your own. Skills learned and developed include:
- different knitting stitches such as garter stitch, stocking stitch, ribs, stripes, lace holes and how they affect the finished fabric
- where to place different stitch patterns in a garment for maximum effect
- how to cast on, cast off and how to increase and decrease rows
- how to make an item to your own measurements for a custom fit.

You gain new or improved knitting techniques, and you make progress with or complete your project.
There are no entry requirements for this course. All you need is an interest in knitting or a desire to learn how to knit.
You could enrol for further sessions to develop your skills by designing and making your own knitted garments. Or you could enrol on one of our other craft-based learning-for-leisure courses.
Basic wools and knitting needles will be available but if you have your own needles that you prefer to work with, please bring them along to your first session. Advice on specialist supplies of knitting equipment will be supplied by your tutor on the first evening.
