BTEC Level 3 Diploma 90 for IT Practitioners (IT & Business)

General information

The course covers the 3 core units: Communication and Employability Skills for IT, Computer Systems and Information Systems. You will also study compulsory topics, these could include Impact of the Use of IT on Business Systems, Client Side Customisation of Web Pages, Website Production, e-Commerce, Spreadsheet Modeling and Installing and Upgrading Software. There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for appropriate direct employment in the vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they clearly wish to enter a particular specialist area of work.

Teaching and assessment

There are no exams on this course. Students work on assignments throughout the year both in class and at home. The results combine to give an overall course grade. Tutors assess assignments in different ways including practical tasks, presentations, reports and observational study.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English Language, or an appropriate Level 2 BTEC Full Award at Merit or Distinction.

Progression

Successful completion of this course will allow students to progress onto the extended diploma or employment.
