- the innovative entrepreneur

- brand development and promotion

In addition you can study functional skills in English, maths or ICT. Individual learning targets are set each term and you will receive regular feedback on your progress in meeting these targets. Formal assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments, which are set at regular intervals throughout the course. The functional skills are assessed by an external exam.

Learning activities include lectures, team activities and visits to local businesses. You take part in entrepreneur competitions, visit SAID Business School, do research tasks, and undertake volunteering opportunities. There are discussions, debates and work placements. You spend five days a week in College participating in classroom lectures, workshops and hands-on enterprise activities, and you benefit from contact with experienced entrepreneurs and business people.

A strong emphasis is placed on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to complete in partnership with other students. You also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning.

By the end of the course you will have gained and improved your skills in a number of areas. These include report writing, team working, self-confidence, decision making, ICT skills, listening skills, taking responsibility and managing your time.

The qualifications awarded are the Edexcel National Diploma in Business Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and functional skills qualifications in English, maths or ICT.

Applicants for a Level 3 programme will normally have at least 4 GCSEs at grade C or above (including some subjects related to the proposed area of study) and/or a completed Level 2 award. You will need the willingness to study for an additional Level 2 qualification in English and/or maths.

If you are interested in a Level 3 programme and have alternative qualifications you would like us to consider, please contact us with your details. Applicants will be invited to attend an interview and complete an internal assessment. All students will have their literacy and numeracy needs supported within the programme.

Complete this course successfully and you are well placed to start up your own company or to work within a business and help it to grow.

Alternatively, you can progress to higher education courses in business management, business enterprise, marketing or finance. See also the Foundation Degree in Business and Enterprise here at City of Oxford College.
