In addition, if you complete all units for the Certificate and
successfully complete a skills assessment, you could add the ILEX
Certificate for Legal Secretaries to your qualification
achievement.
Students who complete the Diploma in Administration and
appropriate literacy skills have the opportunity to progress to a
Level 3 qualification. This would develop skills for
senior/supervisory roles.
Alternative progression could include NVQ Administration as part of
an apprenticeship scheme, or perhaps the Extended Diploma in
Business.
Assessment for the Award, Certificate and Diploma in Administration
is by internally-assessed assignments. The ILEX Certificate for
Legal Secretaries is a mixture of both externally marked exams and
internally-assessed assignments together with the development of a
portfolio of legal documents.
The Award, Certificate or Diploma in Administration is graded at
pass only. Attendance is 15 hours over three days on this full-time
one-year course together, with a full day of work placement in a
business support office within the College. Most activities are
practical and PC based, as you would expect in the workplace.
You develop an extensive range of skills and attributes
associated with administrative, secretarial and customer-focused
roles which enhance your CV and improve your employability.
You build confidence in dealing with verbal and written complaints,
delivering short presentations and working within a team. You also
develop fast, accurate word-processing skills, together with
excellent proofreading skills. Organisation, time management, tact,
patience and understanding - all key to providing excellent service
in a support role - are other qualities which you improve through
your work placement experiences.
Applicants for a Level 2 programme will normally have:
• at least 4 GCSEs at grade D or above and/or a completed Level 1
