Learn about 3D modelling and texturing using Blender, a powerful piece of open-source software which offers a great way for you to begin your journey into 3D modelling or to continue your practice. This introductory course focuses on the features and processes associated with the creation of 3D digital images.
The course gives you the fundamentals of 3D Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) software as well as exploring the techniques in CGI modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering and animation techniques. Integration of 3D CGI elements into other digital media will also be explored.

This introductory course focuses on the features and processes associated with the creation of 3D digital images.
The course gives you the fundamentals of 3D Computer Generated
Imagery (CGI) software as well as exploring the techniques in CGI
modelling, texturing, lighting, rendering and animation techniques.
Integration of 3D CGI elements into other digital media will also
be explored.
Emphasis will be placed on establishing good working practices that
will serve ongoing development of skills within the field.
Photoshop will also be used to help inform the learning.
This course is based on practical activities and demonstrations of
a variety of techniques. You will work on your own designs at a
pace appropriate to your skill level and experience, with
individual tutor guidance. You will be expected to practise the
techniques from home in order to support your learning.
You will receive individual feedback and discussion about your work
during each session. There is no formal assessment on this
course.
You gain digital 3D-modelling knowledge and the confidence to work independently, so you can continue to model for your own interest or to build a portfolio.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course.
