Overview

About This Course:

The course helps you develop an understanding of safe and effective principles of fitness, training and injury rehabilitation. It equips you with the skills to become an effective health and sports professional and a member of a support team competent in preventing and treating injuries.

You will work in our sports injury clinic – developing skills in clinical assessment, devising treatment plans and providing physical therapies. You may also be involved in pre and post match and touchline support for sporting events.

About This Course:

You will work in our sports injury clinic – developing skills in clinical assessment, devising treatment plans and providing physical therapies. You may also be involved in pre and post match and touchline support for sporting events.

What You Need:
  • At least 2 Highers at Grade C or above although as our courses attract many applicants we prefer applicants who aspire to complete studies over 2 years at HND to have Higher English and a second Higher in a Science subject or PE
  • NQ/NC qualification in a related subject at Level 6 OR
  • Other equivalent qualifications or experience supported by a personal statement and a reference
  • Offers are subject to attending an interview where you should demonstrate your interest and knowledge/skills in sport

More Information

What You Study:

Some of the subjects you’ll study are Applied Physiology, Psychology of Sports Injury, Pathology, Exercise Principles and Programming, Applied Anatomy, Body Massage, First Aid for Sport, and Nutrition for Sports Therapists.

After The Course:

• Career – therapist with sports club, football club, rugby club or other sports organisation, freelance sports therapist, self-employment. Government health initiatives and national sports development programmes

• Continuing study – apply for Degree courses such as BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy at Teeside University; BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy; BA Sports Studies at University of Stirling; BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy at Worcester University; BSc (Hons) Strength & Conditioning; BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy at Edgehill University; BSc Sports & Exercise Science at Napier University; BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy at Coventry University.

How Long:

Two years, starting in August.

City Campus Charles Oakley / Riverside Campus.
