and performance within Early Years settings, for those working as a
Key Person/Key Carer in the childcare sector. Taught subjects
include Child Development, Health & Safety, Equality &
Diversity, Professional Practice and Communication. Apprentices
will be assessed by a college assessor, who mentors and guides
them, providing meaningful feedback on their practice and enabling

start the course every year. What will I Study? The course is
delivered using a blended approach, combining taught sessions and
assessment in the workplace, and comprises: • Level 3 Diploma for
the Children and Young People’s Workforce • Functional Skills Level
2 in English, Mathematics & ICT • Personal Learning and
Thinking Skills (PLTS) • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
(ERR) How will I be Taught? Teaching, learning and assessment will
take place through taught sessions, group work, role play, self
study and assignment work. You will be assessed in the work place
by a qualified assessor who will observe you at work. You will
attend college ond day a week where you will be able to share and
reflect on practice and gain underpinning knowledge to support your
practice as a L3 qualified member of staff. How will I be Assessed?
• Apprentices will be allocated a dedicated assessor who will carry
out all assessment in the workplace • Functional Skills are
assessed through on-line tests and observations (for English) •
Portfolio of work based evidence and assignments to assess
