In AS you will study two theory modules, and have a practical assessment. Module 1 looks at electricity, circuits, particle physics and the photoelectric effect. Module 2 looks at various aspects of mechanics, waves and their properties, wave optics and material science.This work builds on subjects that you will have studied at GCSE. How will I be Taught? There are 2 sessions every week . One 2 hour and the other 3 hour with a break midway of 30 minutes.Classes have a good broad spectrum of students and we have lively discussions and interaction. There are demonstrations, practical work for each student, note taking and problem solving.Each student is encouraged to take responsibility for their own study. Homework is set on a weekly basis,and tests conducted at the end of each topic . How will I be Assessed? Regular weekly homework. Frequent timed exam questions in class.Tests at the end of each topic. Two theory exams and a practical assessment in June. What our students say? They enjoy the course and feel it is both interesting and challenging. They know that is a challenging subject that requires extra study outside class to achieve high grades. They enjoy being class and the interaction. Students also said that the staff are friendly,helpful and supportive.
