This Level 1 class is suitable for those who have the ability to use a mouse and are familiar with the keyboard. Some basic knowledge of Excel e.g. able to: open, close and save workbooks; and enter simple formulae. Have attended Excel Beginners.
General & First Session:
Please bring a pen, notepad and folder to contain work, exercises, handouts etc. KAE is unable to offer refunds for any equipment, materials or books if the class is subsequently closed.

Course Aim & Objective:
- Enhance skills learned on the Beginners course;
- Change basic Spreadsheet layout, e.g. adjust column widths and row depths;
- Insert and delete columns and rows;
- Apply and remove data formatting;
- Copy and paste formulae, including using Autofill, VAT, minimum, maximum and average;
- Change the appearance of data by formatting, e.g. decimal places, currency;
- Have an understanding of Relative & Absolute references;
- Sort data;
- Create simple charts.
Assessment:
A number of guided exercises to be completed during the course, intended to illustrate the topics covered. Consolidation exercises to assess understanding. Discussion, questioning and feedback, personal and group, are used to assess the level of learning.

EXCEL Advanced at KAE. Please ask at the centre office for details.
Course Syllabus:
This class is intended for you to learn more about Excel
- Change and enhance the appearance of a worksheet, including adjusting column widths and row depths; inserting and deleting columns and rows
- Use Page Setup to adjust margins, orientation, insert headers and footers etc.
- Format data, e.g. to display figures as dates or currency
- Copy and paste formulae to avoid repetition of entry
- Relative & Absolute formulae - understand and appreciate the difference between Relative & Absolute references.
- Discover quick methods of copying formulae
- Calculate VAT, minimum/maximum/ average figures and sorting data into order.
