NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy or
NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing
Core Skills:In this course you will learn how to;
Monitor & maintain health & safety practice.
Working with colleagues within the beauty related industries.
Camouflage make up.
Apply airbrush make up to the face.
Design and apply face & body art.
Fashion & photographic make up.
Creative hairdressing design skills.
Media make up.
Style & fit postiche.
Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques.
Assessment:Assessments will be graded pass, credit or distinction. GOLA on line testing is used for some written assessments.
Assignments are externally set and internally marked and graded.
Academic Progression:Students who successfully complete this qualification may progress onto a foundation degree in Theatrical & Media Make up.
Career Progression:Following further study such as a foundation degree in Theatrical & Media make up, students can work in the media industries as a make up artist.
Full Description:The qualification which is achieved on this course is the VRQ level 3 Diploma in Hair and Media Make up. Students are expected to achieve att least 90% attendance throughout the course. Attendance which falls below this may result in the qualification not being awarded. It is important that students have a mature and professional attitude as the hair and make up profession is a highly demanding and disciplined one. Personal and professional appearance must be of the highest standard throughout the course.
An ability to undertake home study on a regular basis is essential; this is necessary for research for class based activities.
Students are expected to volunteer for extra curricular enrichment such as helping in college events e.g. open days, fashion shows, the Royal Norfolk Show, hair and beauty shows and other off site activities.
Costs:Hair and beauty kit and uniform costs;
All students will be required to purchase the following;
Media make up kit
Hair kit
Salon uniform (including shoes)
A deposit will be taken at enrolment for each kit
