Summary:

If you are interested in a career in art and design, or progression to National Diploma level, this course could be for you. Study includes two and three-dimensional visual language, exploring the art, craft and design work of others, and applying the creative process.In the creative process traditional techniques and digital meia is explored, with learners electing for their own pathways towards the end of the course. Learners will exhibit their work at an end of year Creative Arts exhibition.

The course supports a range of enrichment activities such as visits to gallaries and museums.

Course Code: A4522 Course Length: one year Course Schedule: 3 full days per week Entry Requirements:

Four GCSEs at Grade D including Art and English, Appropriate level of competence in English language and numeracy.

A Portfolio of visual work, which will normally consist of drawings, sketchbook work and can have 3D work, large scale painting and drawing work and sometimes photography.

In exceptional circumstances, eg where no formal qualifications are available, we invite applicants to demonstrate their drawing skills, enthusiasm and commitment for the course at interview.

Core Skills:

Practical 2Dand 3D art skills, photographic skills, digital art skills, written, research and IT skills.

Assessment:

Assessment will be through visual portfolios/sketchbook and practical outcomes.

Academic Progression:

This course can offer progession to Extended Diploma Level 3 courses, occasionally for over 18 + learners this leads to Access to Art or ABC foundation depending on candidates suitablity.

Career Progression:

After successful completion of this course you may pursue a career in Art and Design or further study.
