ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATION
All students will undertake Essential Skills Wales in Communication and Wider key Skills in Working with Others and Improving Own Learning and Performance. This gives greater breadth to student's learning, providing the skills and personal qualities that employers and higher education institutions are looking for. To achieve this qualification student's work towards a core certificate, including essential skills and work experience, alongside their chosen course of study.
How you will gain the qualification
The course is a mixture of theory and practical workshop sessions. Theory is delivered and assessed through assignments, tasks and externally set examinations. Paying clients will offer a realistic working environment where theory knowledge can be put into practice, and the practical elements of the course be assessed through observation and oral questioning. Through this learners will build up a portfolio of evidence of the work that they have completed.
What qualifications you need
The qualification is available for students who hold an Level 2 Beauty Therapy or equivalent - 5 GCSE at grade C or above. An interview will be required.
Where to next
This qualification provides a platform for learners to gain employment as a specialist beauty/spa therapist in a salon, health farm, cruise liner, make-up and skin care consultant, technical representative or self employment. This course may also provide a route for progression onto higher level qualifications.
