Description
Part Time

The course follows the Edexcel GCSE Mathematics specification A and covers methods in Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measures, Statistics and Probability. It is a fast paced GCSE Course aimed at supporting students to achieve grade C and above in this qualification. Teaching covers topics on both the Higher and Foundation Tiers.




Students are encouraged to use problem solving strategies and apply mathematical techniques in real situations, to reason mathematically and to communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms.

Each paper assesses the functional element of Maths.


What qualifications you need

Foundation Tier: A grade D in a previous sitting of GCSE Maths or a GCSE profile of four grade D GCSEs with a minimum grade E in GCSE Maths.


Students who do not meet these entry requirements should enquire about pre GCSE Maths programmes .


Higher Tier: a grade C or equivalent in a previous sitting of GCSE Maths Foundation paper.


Mature students will be considered on an individual basis.


Where to next

A GCSE qualification in Maths is a well recognised core qualification required for entry to employment and some degree courses such as Nursing and Teaching. It is essential that you check the grade requirement for each institution. It provides a foundation for progression to higher level study in Maths and courses with a high mathematical content.
