General information
The new GCSE English one year course looks a little different from the old specification you might have done at school.
Course content
There are now 3 units and each is assessed in a slightly different way.
There is no more course work. Instead students will produce a series of timed pieces of work in the classroom over the year, which are internally marked but then externally moderated-think of it as ‘timed course work!’ (Unit 3- 40% of final grade)
Speaking and listening is assessed in a similar way to the old GCSE and is worth 20% of the final grade. (Unit 2)
Finally there is a large exam (2 hours and 15 mins.) which tests your ability to assess unseen Media texts and …
