This programme is suitable for applicants who already hold a L1 qualification or those who meet the direct entry from school. 13 units must be completed for the full Diploma.
Course content

- Client care and communication in beauty therapy

- Working in beauty related industries
- Salon reception duties
- Provide manicure & pedicure treatments
- Remove hair using waxing techniques
- Provide facial skincare

Teaching and assessment
Students will be assessed by a combination of the following:
- Practical exams
- Online testing
- Tasks and assignments
For successful completion of the course, students will be required to achieve a minimum pass grade in all practical exams and on line tests. Students will also be required to undertake the week work experience in the industry during the course.
Classroom based sessions are for the delivery of the anatomy and physiology and theory areas of the qualification. Salon based sessions involve training and practice on other students within the group, moving on to clients working in a realistic commercial environment. Home study will be required to enable students to achieve on this course (approx 6 hrs a week).
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs Grades A*-D to include English and Science C or above, and Maths and one other academic subject at grade D or above.
Plus compulsory attendance at a College interview day with assessment in English and Maths and compulsory attendance to a taster session.
We welcome candidates with previous or on-going salon experience and this can be discussed at the initial presentation.

Progression
This course will offer you progression to: Level 3 Beauty Therapy Continue with training and/or employment Be employed as a Beauty Therapist within a salon.
