General information

The course is aimed at industrial requirements within the Motor Vehicle Industry, both today and in the future. The course is nationally recognised, and will provide a series of stepping stones to further qualifications. The emphasis is on providing future employees with the practical knowledge, to be able to do their job effectively within the workshop environment. The course is modular in structure and is not meant to be related to a time scale, the Certificate is awarded when the required number of competencies have been obtained. The successful completion of the course gives the basic understanding of the motorcycle maintenance and repair principles.

Course content

The structure of the course is formed around a series of separate modules. You will complete each module at your own pace, this allows each student to fully understand the practical aspects of the unit before moving on to the next competence. During each of these tasks you will learn skills and knowledge and be expected to practice those you already possess. The course is essentially practical in nature, preparing you for a career in Motorcycle Repair and Maintenance.

Teaching and assessment

A combination of continuous assessment, short answer test papers and the completion of an awarding body candidate portfolio. This course is predominantly workshop based learning with two hours per week theory. The function skills in English, Maths and IT which are a very important part of your course are assessed through external tests.

Entry requirements

Compulsory attendance at an interview day with assessment in English, maths and technical skills.

This course leads to a Motor Vehicle/Motorcycle 3902 Level 1.
