General information
The Level 2 Interactive Media course provides the background skills and knowledge for those learners wishing to enter careers such as Web Design, Animation, Digital Design, or Computer Game Design. Students will have the opportunity to work on creative projects, using a variety of multimedia software, creating high quality digital content for websites, e-books and simulations as well as graphic images and artwork.
This course is equivalent to 4 GCSEs A*– C.

Course content
Communicating in the IT Industry.
The aim of this unit is to enable learners to use IT tools to communicate and exchange information safely, securely and effectively with different audiences. Learners will also consider the impacts of IT.
Working in the IT Industry.
The aim of this unit is to ensure that learners have knowledge of the available job roles involving professional IT and the characteristics employers demand in the IT industry.
Computer Systems.
The aim of this unit is to introduce learners to the basic hardware and software components that make up computer systems and for learners to carry out basic installation and configuration.
Website Development.
The aim of this unit is to give learners a knowledge of how websites function and an understanding of their purpose as business tools. Learners will then gain develop the skills required to design and create a multiple page website.
Computer Graphics.
The aim of this unit is to give learners a knowledge of the hardware and software used to generate and manipulate computer generated images.
Teaching and assessment
Teaching is via classroom delivery over 1 year, supported by our Virtual Learning Environment. Assessment is via a series of assignments.
Entry requirements
4 GCSEs A-D or BTEC Introductory Diploma in IT @ Work (merit or above) or DIDA level 1 (credit or above)
Foundation Learning qualification of at least 26 credits with Functional Skills English at Level 1 and Functional Skills maths and IT at Entry 3/Level 1.
Progression
Students who achieve a merit or above may choose to progress to the Level 3 Diploma.
Students can also progress onto employment.
